WELMEC e.V. has organized the 3rd WELMEC Committee Meeting in the period from 11 to 13 May 2022. Due to the pandemic situation, the meeting was held online. The large number of members have been participating in the meeting as well as corresponding members who gave presentations on the latest developments in their organizations (EC, EURAMET, OIML, CECIP, EA, AQUA). During the meeting, the WELMEC committee, among other issues, has approved the new WELMEC strategy and agreed to start the preparation of a new working group on digitalization. The WELMEC committee re-elected Mr. Pavel Klenovsky as a chairperson for another three years period, starting in 2023. The WELMEC Committee agreed to hold yearly webinars. The first one in September 2022 will be devoted to the Commission’s fit-for-purpose MID and NAWI study. 

All working groups have been presenting and reporting on their activities and working programs, which have been also approved by the WELMEC Committee. Two new Subgroups have been established within the Working Group 7 Software, namely “New Technologies”, and “Evaluation of WELMEC Software Guides”. Four guides have been introduced to the members and have been approved by WELMEC Committee: Guide 7.2.: Software guide; Guide 7.4.: Exemplary Application of WELMEC Guide 7.2.; Guide 8.5.: Assessment of Notified Bodies following the EN ISO/IEC 17065 and Guide 11.1.: Common application for utility meters.     

During the meeting, representatives of WELMEC member countries, as well invited guests had various useful and constructive discussions on future joint work with the aim of strengthening legal metrology activities in Europe.  

The next meeting of the WELMEC Committee will be held in Braunschweig at the invitation of colleagues from Germany in the period 03-05 May 2023.
