GUIDE SUMMARY:
This revised document is intended to provide information about the development
of software requirements based on the Measuring Instruments Directive. Up to
the publication of the MID in April 2004 this guide was used as a basis for
national type approval in some European countries. Therefore the responsible
Working Group 7 “Software” has decided during its 9th meeting in
2004 not to withdraw the Guide but to keep it as an informative document with
updated cross-references to the final MID text and to bring it in line with the
new WELMEC Software Guide 7.2.
For software examination and software testing of MID instruments WELMEC 7.1,
issue 2, shall not be applied. Instead WELMEC 7.2 is the recommended WELMEC
document that should be used for MID conformity assessments of software
controlled instruments.
